Make Me Read It!

I’m still in the midst of one reading challenge and I’m already prepping for another one, the Make Me Read It Readathon, co-hosted by Val at The Innocent Smiley and Ely at Tea and Titles! This is the third annual round of the challenge; however, this will be my first time participating and I’m beyond excited!

Perhaps the coolest thing about this particular readathon is that participants choose X number of books, create a poll, and let others vote to determine the order in which their choices are to be read!

I’ve picked out seven books for y’all to help me decide between! I’d be SO very honored if you could take a minute to vote, regardless of your choice(s)! That’s right – you have the option of voting more than once! 😀

The Make Me Read It Readathon begins August 6 and will end on August 13, so there’s tons of time for y’all to vote and for me to get my ducks in a row, so to speak! Thanks in advance for your vote(s); I’m seriously looking forward to reading all of my picks, so any help is GREATLY appreciated! 😀

What books NEED to be read? 😀

Ms. Marvel, Vol. 4: Last Days by G. Willow Wilson
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Anna & the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle
Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
Persuasion by Jane Austen

    1. Thanks so much! 😀 I’m super excited for this challenge! Good luck to you; I’m going to vote for you shortly! 😀

  1. Anna and the French Kiss is a great book, so that’s what I went for. I want to read all of Jane Austin’s books so be cool to see if yo enjoy one of hers.

    1. Thanks SO much for your vote, Chloe! 😀 I’m really excited about Anna and the French Kiss and it looks like it may end up being the first book I’ll be reading, but time will tell! I loved Pride and Prejudice and I hope to get to Persuasion very soon! Happy reading! 😀

  2. I’m super excited to be participating in Make Me Read this year. You have some really good book picks on your list. Kind of hoping Throne of Glass takes the #1 spot!

    1. I’m SO excited too!!!! Thanks so much – I’m hoping I can *possibly* get them ALL read during the challenge, but I’ll be surprised if I do! LOL! It’s so much fun watching the voting and I can’t wait to see what places first! 😀

    1. Awesome! Thanks so much for stopping by, Marissa! I’m so excited for this challenge and can’t wait to see what order my picks should be read in! Good luck and happy reading! 😀

  4. Hi there!
It’s my first time visiting your blog, and I have to say it’s such a sweet place. I’m kind of in love with the fonts you use for comments and for the posts as well. Anyway, so I voted for FOUR things, because I am indecisive and I love the choices you have listed on here. Anna and the French Kiss is so cute, and cheery. I think it’d be a good fit for this time of year. Stalking Jack the Ripper is a nice contrast, which is why I picked that one, too. I have been collecting Jane Austen’s most famous works, and one of them is Persuasion (obviously). By voting for you to read it, my hope is that I’d get the courage to pick it up after you do it (I am intimidated by books all the time). Reading, to me, is an exercise in bravery. Finally, Beauty Queens was a strange and amusing read. I don’t remember much, but I recall seeing a lot of diversity in that book, which is why I voted for that one as well.
Pleasure to meet you! I have subbed to your blog via Bloglovin to see what you end up reading.
    See you around the Interwebs
PS: I messed up my link, and that’s why I tried posting a comment like three million times. Yay anxiety for the win

    1. Aw! Thanks so much for your kind comments, Dina! <3 Thanks so much for your votes! Anna and the French Kiss is still in the lead and I'm really looking forward to reading it! Oh, I totally understand being intimidated by books - especially by classics! At least Persuasion seems relatively short compared to Austen's other novels! Thanks so much for subscribing and don't worry about posting your comment a few times - I'm impressed you were able to remember what you originally wrote so many times! 😀 Good luck with the challenge and happy reading! 😀

    1. Thanks so much, Ely! I’m really really excited to have stumbled across this challenge! I’m excited for Persuasion and not-so-secretly hoping I can get to it during the readathon! 😀

    2. Thanks so much, Ely! I’m really really glad I stumbled across this challenge! I’m not-so-secretly hoping I’ll get to read Persuasion during the readathon! Thanks so much to you and Val for hosting – I’m having a blast already just watching how the votes are going to end up! 😀

  5. I picked three for you! Two of which I’ve already read (and feel like you definitely should too!) and the other is actually one I have on my list as well for the readathon!

“Throne of Glass” — while the sequels are a bit better than the first book (that seems to be the consensus) this was a fabulous read with a strong, albeit sassy and girlish female lead (and she’s an assassin!). Once you get to book #3 (Heir of Fire, my personal favorite, next to #4, Queen of Shadows) I’m (almost) sure you’ll be hooked!

“Anna and the French Kiss” — this is another one (for me) where I only sort of liked the first book, but the next two were way better, in my humble opinion! (Isla’s story was definitely my fave!)

And then I have “Stalking Jack the Ripper” on my list to read!

I can’t wait for this readathon to start, but I might end up reading one of these books as soon as I finish “A Discovery of Witches”, which I am reading quite greedily over this weekend!

    Happy reading!!!

    1. Thanks SO much for voting! Yeah, I’m looking forward to reading Throne of Glass and Anna and the French Kiss so I can get to the next ones in both series! LOL! I love the cover of Isla’s book – the color is so pretty! I’m really looking forward to Stalking Jack the Ripper too – I’ve only heard amazing things about it, plus, I’m excited for Hunting Prince Dracula! Good luck in the challenge and happy reading to you too! 😀
