Fall TBR: Checked Out Edition

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, Top Ten Tuesday invites bookish bloggers to share lists based on a given topic. This week I’m discussing the top books on my fall TBR list. Since I have become obsessed with stalking the online library catalogue, I have tons of books both on hold and checked out; therefore, I will be focusing on the borrowed books I plan to delve into this fall.

The List

[Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson] This will be my very first book by Matson and I’ve heard amazing things about her storytelling! I’m hoping this isn’t in fact a sequel! LOL! I don’t think it is, but holler at me if there’s a book I need to read before this one! πŸ˜€

[The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas] Call me a weirdo, but I’m super duper nervous about this book…I feel the intense need and desire to read it, but I’m hoping I don’t get riled up while doing so, what with the current political climate and all…

[Hunted by Meagan Spooner] I’m so looking forward to Hunted! Ever since someone requested it via winning a giveaway I hosted a while ago, I’ve been intrigued! Retellings are so much fun and I’ve only read one other book based on Beauty and the Beast, which is one of my favorite fairy tales!

[Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen] Saint Anything will be my inaugural Dessen book and I’m really excited about it too! Since Dessen has so many books to choose from, I had to ask which to read first and this one was recommended by the majority. As I’ve said before, I extremely rarely read synopsis prior to reading books, so I have no clue what this one is about, but I have a feeling I’ll like it! πŸ˜€

[In the Hand of the Goddess by Tamora Pierce] I recently finished Pierce’s first book in The Song of the Lioness saga, Alanna: The First Adventure, and adored it! I’m really looking forward to finding out what Alanna does next and where Pierce’s story takes her!

[P.S. I Like You by Kasie West] I honestly never anticipated falling in love with Kasie West’s books, but I guess it’s fate because it totally happened! I started out with The Fill-In Boyfriend and then moved on to devouring On the Fence earlier in the year and I’m so ready to read ALL of West’s books! One major thing I’ve learned about myself this year is that I LOVE fluff!

[Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins] I’ve been trying to listen to Rebel Belle via Audible FOREVER! I’ve been enjoying the story thus far, but I can’t follow it, as I inevitably fall into dreamland every time I put in my earbuds. I’m hopeful that I’ll actually be able to follow the tale once I read the hard copy! I’ve already got designs on reading the sequels, Miss Mayhem and Lady Renegades!

[Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King] I’m dying to watch the TV series based on this book; I’m actually saving all of the episodes on my DVR until AFTER I read the book. I have a thing about reading books before watching their adaptations – most of the time!

[A Whole New World by Liz Braswell] I’m really excited about starting The Twisted Tales series! Reading not only retellings, but totally different ‘what if?’ takes on classic tales will be so much fun – I just know it! Plus, I’ve never read an Aladdin-based story!

[Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater] Admitting this may just be blasphemous, but Shiver will be my first ever book by Stiefvater! I’m so excited about The Wolves of Mercy Falls series – I can’t recall ever reading a book revolving around werewolves!

Love, Maggie

    • Thanks so much, Jo! πŸ˜€ Hunted does sound like it would be an amazing winter read! I’ll keep that in mind if I don’t get around to it this fall! πŸ˜€

  1. I only read Shiver from this list ages ago, I liked it back then when I was around 13? Not sure if I would like it now but I’m curious about your thoughts on it! πŸ™‚

    • Hey, Dorka! πŸ˜€ I’m really excited to read Stiefvater – FINALLY! I’ll definitely do a review and let y’all know what I think!

    • Thanks, Lauren! πŸ˜€ I’m really excited about Stiefvater – I cannot believe I still haven’t read any of her stuff yet – I hear such great things!

I feel ya on “The Hate U Give.” I own a hardcover of it, but I haven’t been able to get myself to read it yet because I feel like I need to be more removed from what the world is doing right now. Then a part of me says that is exactly why I need to be reading it right now, so I understand that confliction. I have been wanting to read the twisted tale books as well! My library has an app that they make digital books available on and those are on it, so I am hoping to get to them before too long. loved seeing what books are anticipated for you!

    • Hey, Cassie! Thanks so much – I’m so excited for all of my picks – I hardly know which to start first! I’m really glad I’m not the only one freaked out by THUG – like you, I feel like I definitely need to read it, but at the same time, I hope I’m not triggered by it because of what’s happening in the world…Do you use the Libby app? I adore it and check out so many books through it!

    • Whew! I’m SO glad I’m not the only person scared of THUG! I’m totally going to read it; I’ve just got to get up the nerve to do it! πŸ˜€

  3. Saint Anything is my all time favorite Sarah Dessen book! I can’t wait for you to read it and review it!!

    • Yay, Shawn! I’m SO very excited to give Sarah Dessen a try – I can’t believe I’ve never read a single book of hers! You’ll totally see a review of Saint Anything! πŸ˜€

So Saint Anything was on my Spring TBR and that…erm…never happened. LOL. I’m hoping to get to it eventually!

    • Hi, Emily! I know – I’m always coming up with seasonal TBR lists and hardly ever stick to them! LOL! Better late than never! πŸ˜€

    • Yes! I recently discovered that I adore King’s writing! Mr. Mercedes being a TV show now makes me even more excited to read it – I don’t want to watch until after I read! πŸ˜€

    • Yay! I’m not the only synopsis avoider out there! πŸ˜€ I agree – I like going into a book and being totally surprised!

    • Thanks a ton, Fernanda! I’m dying for THUG; but, like I said in my post, I’m kind of scared to read it at the same time…I know I’ve GOT to read it though! I’ve heard mostly awesome things about Hunted!

The Hate U give took me for the first time into a dramatically different world for me, as a small town white old woman. I loved it, and i recommend it.

If only the haters would try it, we’d have a different world.

    • Yay! I’m so glad you loved The Hate U Give! The more comments I read about how good it is, the less hesitant I am to read it. I’m also a small town white lady, so I totally expect to learn from this book!

    • Hi, Paige! I’m so looking forward to both of these tales! I just hope I can get Hunted read before my rental ends; I was on the waiting list for it FOREVER!
